We all know that the pandemic has devastated the restaurant industry. Particularly the mom and pop shops and family-owned restaurants that don’t necessarily have the backing of a huge restaurant group, let alone the budget, team or capacity to market, pivot and regroup in a way that can save them from going under.

Also tough? New openings. Daughter’s Diner is one such restaurant that recently opened despite the rough conditions in the industry. It has none-the-less been forced to change course to remain in business.

A modern take on a classic diner, Daughter’s Diner is a charming restaurant located in Oakland, California whose menu is filled with your fun food, diner favs made upscale and even more delicious than you remember. Co-owner and Chef, Keven Wilson wanted to modernize the classic diner dishes with techniques he learned along his illustrious career thus far.

More than anything, he wants to operate in the spirit of a true diner: approachable, serving good food in a welcoming, comfortable environment.

Classified as New American, popular plates include dishes like Princess Pancakes with raspberry jam and almond marzipan; wild mushroom fricassee with grits and seasonal veggies; roasted pork shoulder with brown butter potatoes. There’s also a selection of sandwiches, burgers and salads that include the Sloppy Sally with a roasted chicken salad; the D Burger with an all-beef patty, special sauce and accompanying toppings; and salads like the warm duck and potato.
