Sydney to Byron Bay will be among a host of airfares that will be slashed by Virgin Australia – and travellers are urged to get in quick.
As part of Virgin’s weekly happy hour window, held each Thursday, the airline will release 300,000 one-way economy fares from 4pm until 11pm AEDT on Thursday – unless sold out prior.
The happy hour fares will be available for select travel dates and destinations from January 18 to June 5.
Despite Greater Sydney being shut off from most other states, one fare expected to be snapped up is the $69 one-way flight from Sydney to Byron.
Flights between Melbourne and Adelaide will be offered from $90 one-way, while flights between Brisbane and Melbourne will be on sale from $129 one-way.

A Virgin Australia spokesman said the weekly happy sales were an effort to give Australia’s struggling tourism industry a much-needed boost.
The spokesman also said there would be no extra charges, such as baggage, in the sale fares.
