Rare Koenigsegg Regera Sportscar Hits Auction Block and Is Expected to Fetch More Than $2.7 Million

When it comes to boutique hypercars, Swedish manufacturer Koenigsegg is one of the best in the world. After all the company produced the second fastest car in the world—the 2021 Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut. But owning one of Koenigsegg’s high-performance sports cars is not so easy—the company only produces about a hundred or so cars and they sell out pretty much immediately. In 2019, all 125 models of the $3 million Koenigsegg Jesko were gone in five days. So if you are a car enthusiast but haven’t had a chance to add a Koenigsegg to your garage collection yet, we have some great news.

California-based auction house Gooding & Company just announced it has added a very rare Koenigsegg to its 2021 Geared Online Scottsdale Edition auction that is slated to begin on January 18.

The supercar in question is a hybrid-powered 2020 Koenigsegg Regera of which only 80 units were ever made available (and yes, they all sold out shortly after being introduced on the market). The car only has 369 miles so it’s pretty much new. The Regera has the first production hybrid system to run at 800 volts, using battery technology pioneered in Formula 1. It features the company’s revolutionary Direct Drive technology that got rid of the traditional gearbox which made the car lighter and more efficient. Basically, the Regera never shifts regardless of how fast it goes.
